Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that helps to straighten teeth without the use of traditional metal braces. It involves wearing a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners that help shift your teeth into the proper position.

Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly, moving them horizontally and vertically and even rotating them when needed. Your aligners are engineered to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time.

What are the benefits of Invisalign for the patient?what is invisalign

The benefits of Invisalign clear braces are tremendous and we have highlighted a few of them; less uncomfortable than traditional metal braces, virtually invisible, less appointments, a quicker treatment time, you can take them out to eat whenever you want and brush and floss just like you normally would, no restrictions on diet, less likelihood of stain on the teeth.

Obviously, if you are an adult, it is not noticeable so there is no stigma to having orthodontics as an adult. For teenagers, there are definitely advantages for sports; it protects your teeth from injury.

What happens when I complete treatment?

Once you have completed your treatment, you would move into retention. All patients, whether they have Invisalign or braces, will have to wear retainers. Dr Perry recommends lifetime retention, generally at night. For the first few months, you may have to wear your retainer full time. Dr Perry also fits fixed retainers to the backs of your teeth. Dr Perry wants to make sure your gorgeous smile and bite stays in place for a lifetime. Just because you have gorgeous teeth right now, doesn’t mean they will stay that way without retainers. Your retainers are your insurance policy.
