Firstly, a lingual braces is truly invisible unlike Invisalign which covers the front of the teeth with visible plastic.
Secondly, there is no need to be constantly taking a plastic aligner in and out every time you eat or drink.
Thirdly, there is no risk of loosing the aligner, delaying treatment and having to pay for a new one.
Thirdly, there is no risk of loosing the aligner, delaying treatment and having to pay for a new one.
Finally, some people report that they constantly produce more saliva with an aligner in all the time, this is not the case with lingual braces. Drooling in the office may not go down well with your colleagues!
But the key difference is that Lingual braces can treat all types of crooked teeth, while Invisalign type treatments cannot.
Fundamentally, is really only suitable for simpler cases. So if you need complex extractions. exposures, bite correction, Invisalign is never going to be an option for you.
Essentially, it leads to a higher risk of decalcification or “damage to the tooth enamel”. And you can’t regrow tooth enamel!
Put all these factors together and it’s clear that lingual braces, from an experienced orthodontist’s viewpoint, are the best option for most patients.
