Here are our top tips to good on your intentions after the January fanfare fades:

Plan, plan, plan!

Set realistic goals and plan ahead on how you will achieve them. Your goals should be; specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-sensitive (SMART).

Replace bad habits, don’t just try to eliminate them!

For example, if you have a habit of going out for lunch every day, replace it by making your own lunch the night before/that morning.

Break your goal down into smaller, more achievable tasks

Decide what you must do each week to reach your goal. For example, if you want to save €1,000 by June for a family wedding, this actually means that you must save €167 from each pay cheque between January 1st and June 1st. To do this, you need to either earn more or spend less.

Stay focused on your goal!

To remind yourself about your goal, associate it with something you do every day, like say, brushing your teeth. Hang a picture on your mirror, change the wallpaper on your phone or laptop, set a task reminder in your calendar, put a sticker on your debit or credit card.

Focusing on a goal and reminding yourself why you want to make choices that get you closer to achieving your goal will help you stay on track and be successful!
